We are very excited to have now launched our website after a lot of hard work and planning over the past year, and we hope you will enjoy staying here as much as we enjoy living here.
There are some fabulous events happening in our area throughout the year and we plan to list some of those near Waingates Farm Huts which may be of interest on this blog. This June and July sees the annual return of the much acclaimed Northern Aldborough Festival running from 22nd June to Saturday 1st July in the picturesque village of Aldborough near Boroughbridge. The first festival was in 1994 and it is now fast establishing itself as one of the most prestigious classical music events in the country, recently described by The Times as “well on its way to being one of the leading fixtures on the classical music calendar”. This years festival includes Will Pickvance on Piano, La Traviata – Opera Up Close, Giles Brandreth Word Play and the infamous ‘Last Night’ with tribute Take That vs Westlife, followed by a fireworks display in the grounds of Aldborough Manor – there really is something for everyone. The North Yorkshire Open Studios are running on 3/4 June and 10/11 June, over 129 selected artists and makers are opening up their studios across North Yorkshire. A chance to buy and take home a range of cutting-edge craft and design, contemporary sculpture, paintings and ceramics. There are Open Gardens in the surrounding villages of Marton cum Grafton on Sunday 25th June and Brafferton and Helpberby on Sunday 2nd July.
This years Great Yorkshire Show from 11th to 13th July features the best of British farming and is England’s premier agricultural show. Held at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate it gives first-hand experience of agriculture and rural life through demonstrations and exhibitions. In the Main Ring this year see displays each day from Yorkshire-based Atkinsons Action Horses – the team behind the equine stars in the two hugely successful TV series, “Poldark” and also “Victoria”. You can get there easily from the Waingates Farm Huts luxury glamping retreat, a quick 20 minute drive away. We hope you enjoy this fantastic spectacle.
The Aldborough and Boroughbridge Show is going to be held and Newby Hall and Gardens this year, there is a lot to see at the show and will show case local agricultural and equine talent as well as dog classes, flower arranging classes, farm produce and vintage vehicle classes.
There is an Open Air Theatre production of Jane Austens Pride and Prejudice on Saturday 29th July 7.30 – 10pm. Adult tickets are £15 each to be held at Knaresborough Castle and Museum, take a picnic and a step back in time with the Capterhouse Theatre Company.
